The Peace Corp mission which traces its roots to as far as the 1960s,
was founded as a result of a challenged posed by the then Senator
John F. Kennedy (who later became the 35th President of the United States of America) to the student body at the University of Michigan.
Back then, according to the Peace Corps online, he challenged the
students to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and
working in the developing countries. A challenge many of them took
upfront. We all remember J F. kennedy for his contribution to world
peace and justice, and also his famous quote during his Inaugural address:
"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what can you do for your country."
This was the birth of a mission from which our school today can proudly honour for their ernomous contribution to our success. Since 1989, PHS Batibo has invited and been the host to more than 10 Peace Corps, whose services have added so much value to our Educational sytem. As years go by, PHS Batibo does not only benefit from the good will and talents of these exceptional individuals, but has also, and continue to exploit the rich and loving culture they all come along with.
Until now, our Peace Corps have mostly been well qualified experts in the Science subjects such as Mahematics, Physics and Chemistry etc, and we are looking forward to inviting many more.
