Parent-Student & School Agreement

The school operates a parent-school-student agreement. This outlines what we consider parents' responsibilities as well as those of the student to be, and it clearly states where the school's responsibilities lie.We expect the document to be signed by a parent/guardian, student and returned to the school - when the student first entersl Form 1 or any other class. It is normally distributed by the School Vice Principal, on the first day of registration- it is shown here only for reference.

Section 1 - Parent/Guardian

I/we will make every effort to ensure that:

  1. My/our son/daughter attends school regularly and where possible does not take holidays or other days off during term time. I/we will provide reasons for absences.
  2. My/our son/daughter arrives at school on time, in the correct uniform and properly equipped.
  3. The school is informed about any concerns or problems that might affect my son/daughters academic progress or behaviour.
  4. The schools policies and guidelines for behaviour are supported (see school policy & prospectus).
  5. My/our son/daughter is supported with coursework, homework, preparation for examinations and extra-curricular activities.
  6. I/we will attend PTA meetings and/or talk with staff about our sons/daughters progress. I/we will respond to letters and other information about our sons/daughters progress and examination entries.
  7. My/our son/daughter will be encouraged to become involved in some of the many opportunities provided by the school e.g. trips and visits, fieldwork exercises, clubs, sporting activities, music and drama, examination revision sessions and work experience.
  8. My/our son/daughter understands the need to keep the school environment clean, tidy and safe and that I/we could be called upon to pay for any damage or abuse.
  9. My/our son/daughter understands that the language of instruction and communication on campus and withing the school boundaries is English.

Section 2 - Student

I will make every effort to:

  1. Attend all lessons regularly, punctually, properly equipped and in school uniform.
  2. Discuss any problems or concerns relevant to school with members of staff.
  3. Keep the school Code of Conduct, the 5 classroom rules.
  4. Complete all homework and assignments set and hand them in by the deadlines.
  5. Keep my parents informed of all school activities such as coursework deadlines, examination timetables and out of school activities.
  6. Be a positive and active member of the school and where possible take part in some of the many opportunities made available by the school.
  7. Keep the school and its grounds clean, tidy and pleasant and I will not deliberately abuse or damage school property.
  8. Acknowledge and accept that my language of communication is English, and shall not in any cercumstance adress myself in the pedgin language.

Section 3 - The School

We will make every effort to:

  1. Contact parents if there is a problem with attendance, punctuality, uniform or equipment.
  2. Listen to any parent and/or student concerns and we will respond promptly to any letters or telephone calls.
  3. Inform parents about any concerns or problems that affect their son’s/daughter’s progress or behaviour.
  4. Consistently and fairly apply the school code of conduct, 5 classroom rules, school rewards and any disciplinary action.
  5. Set, assess and monitor class work, coursework and homework and we will provide support for the satisfactory completion of the work.
  6. Send regular information home about progress and academic achievement and arrange parents’ evenings during which progress will be discussed.
  7. Provide a range of extra-curricular activities and encourage student participation.
  8. Provide a safe, clean, well-equipped and attractive learning environment.

Please Note

There may be occasions when photographs are taken of your son/daughter participating in school activities.

These images may well be used in school publications including our website, unless you attach a letter of objection when returning this Home-School Agreement.
